Ikea Hemnes Black-Brown

Has anybody got any of this furniture in this colour? If so what is it like?

We are about to buy new bedroom furniture. We are getting the Ikea Pax wardrobe with sliding doors. The only chest of drawrs that we like are Hemnes and we are finding it hard to get it all to match.

The options are Pax with white gloss doors (I'm worried it will look too kitcheny) and white Hemnes furniture, or to get it all in the Black-Brown.

I think we are veering more towards the black-Brown, but I'm worried that it may all be a bit too dark and gloomy? Our bedroom has high ceilings and 2 very long windows so is quite light, but with our kingsize bed there isn't tons of floor space really.

I wish Ikea would make all of their ranges in the same colours - then we would have gone for the grey coloured Hemnes, but as it is they don't do Pax doors to match.

We have pretty much the whole range in our bedroom. It doesn't look gloomy, quiet sleek I think (!) we have grey carpet (came with house) magnolia walls, white with grey flowers bedding and aqua-y curtains. Our room is average sized with two windows, low/normal ceilings as its a new build.

It does show the dust v easily though... Although ds has the white hemnes drawers which also show the dust so that might just be out house!

They are good though-deep sturdy drawers full of junk

The white wardrobe would go with the grey but I don't really like the white sliding doors they have. It's either white gloss which is a bit too kitcheny for me or what looks like white paper under a sheet if plastic.'
Basically the sliding door range is crap, but in the place we want to put the wardrobe we couldn't have hinged doors.

I have some black-brown in a rental. It is pretty dark, think brown-black mascara and most people would say it was black with a casual glance.
I would go for the White doors and the grey furniture.
I don't think the White pax matches the White hennes which is very ivory. Check this out yourself. I think that grey is bette than non-matching white.

Paint the doors? A painted finish would look more expensive and you could get a grey colour match.

Zinsser Bin paint is an excellent primer for melamine etc.

I have the Pax wardrobe in black/brown and I have to say I hate it. To be fair I only like old wardrobes but for the size we needed and the money we had it had to be Ikea.
What I particularly dislike about it is that it looks like a large office stationery cupboard. It's so much brown/black in one go. I've seen that colour on other furniture such as drawers and beds and it's much nicer.

White hemnes is a creamy colour and will not match the white pax. DS has the dark hemnes daybed in his room with a white Ikea shelving unit and it looks ok.

We have the pax dark brown wardrobes in our bedroom with other dark brown furniture, it doesn't look too dark but it is quite a big room.

We have the pax in black brown (with black glass doors) and I hate it. It looked ok in our modern flat but now we've moved all the dark furniture looks really mismatched to our light, airy house.
