Carpet for landing/stairs...only need a max of 1 - 2 metres width...

This sounds really cheapskate-ish but we want to re carpet our stairs and landing with good quality heavy-wearing carpet. However our stairs and landing are only a max of about 1 metre wide and we don't want to be paying for four metre widths of carpet (which seems to be average for a heavy duty carpet) X length of stairs and landing. Is it feasible or realistic to buy the stairs length of carpet and use the excess to do the landing?

Any ideas or help would be much appreciated!

Perfectly feasible.

You might be able to get a an off-cut which a carpet fitter will be able to cut cleverly to fit.

Measure up and go to a carpet shop, get some quotes and then try independent fitters too.

We brought our carpets with us from the last house we moved out of and the carpet fitter re-jigged them to fit the new rooms, stairs and landing, like a big jigsaw.

Go to an independent carpet shop. They usually have different sized off cuts and will work round problems. Plus they are usually much much cheaper.

Do it the other way then!.

If you have a width of carpet measuring 4m wide, order 1.5/2m and you have 4m length... Our local carpet shop did this for us on our stairs.

I think Ryalux will weave carpet to a specific width and colour.
We had this done and it was expensive bu not prohibitively so.
