Has anyone been to Mallorca lately?

Hi, we are flying on Tuesday, 10 days near Alcudia, currently holiday excitement is being overtaken somewhat by stress and worry about catching Covid out there and needing to isolate! Any reassurance that people just had a really great time and it will all be worth it? Please 😀

I went a couple of weeks ago, it was great and you will have a great time! There's loads of places to book your return to U.K. test. We didn't have restrictions on eg time at the pool, didn't have to book restaurants in advance, loved it!

Just got back from Palma yesterday easy to get pcr and lateral flow tests out there lateral flow costing around 30 euro each. strict on masks and social distancing so I felt very safe, and straightforward and quick covid checks at outward and return airports. Go for it and enjoy!

We are here currently and due home sat. After the initial, stress and added testing etc we are so glad we came and hope others do the same. As two key workers who have worked hard all through the pandemic it is exactly what we needed. Go for it. You won't regret it.

Booked to go soon, could anyone kindly talk me through what you have to do re tests etc? Where to get them and how long in advance? I'd be very grateful Smile

We are in Scotland so procedure was more complicated and costly than England I believe. We had to have a fit to fly COVID test 48hrs within arrival time on the island before we were allowed to fly. We also had to complete a Passenger Locator Form for entry to Spain. While we are away we have a COVID test tonight (to be within three days of arrival back to Scotland) and the On arrival in Scotland we also had to book an amber covid package for arrival(Scotland only I think) for day 2 and day 8 tests. It sounds a lot of hassle but has been worth it 100%

After much dithering we are off in a couple of weeks.

It's very quiet in the resorts from what I can gather (fir obvious reasons) and there are very strict rules re face masks and social distancing.

Now I've got my head round the paperwork and testing I'm really looking forward to it although viewing it with some trepidation.

We were booked but bow I’m worried it will go on the amber plus list!

Report
Holidaycittage · 22/07/2021 13:43

So you have to do a PCR test 48 before you go? Is that just a walk in? Does it have to be valid for when you land presumably?

Report
Sallycinnamum · 22/07/2021 14:06

If you're not double jabbed you need a valid pcr test 72hrs before you go.

My DS is 12 so is having his in our local Boots as I'd rather do that than stress over a postal kit.

I am worried about Amber Plus too @DGFB but we'll just have to isolate when we get home if it comes to it.

I can’t see anything about Tui cancelling online? 2 days ago they were adding more holidays!

Sallycinnamum

So just to clarify you don't need to do a PCR test either way if you're double vaccinated?

Ringonrighthand · 22/07/2021 17:49

We have to do antigen out there within couple of days of coming home and 2 day test on our return. All double vaxed to no need to test before we go

Well Tui have definitely cancelled their 2 week holiday this afternoon. They were due to fly from Gatwick tomorrow and the teens had been and had their Covid tests, they're absolutely gutted.

Can I ask a question please!! Getting myself so confused with tests etc…
My other half and I are both double jabbed but travelling on different days (a whole other story 🤣) but the children need PCR tests to travel. Is it 72 or 48 hours before arrival? I keep reading different timescales on different websites and my brain is frazzled! Thanks ladies x

@Alargeoneplease I agree! Nearly everything website says 72 hours with a pcr but the odd one is 48. I wonder if it depends what type of test? I’m going to try for the 48 I think

We're in Sa Coma right now. It's lovely, very glad we came. The hotel was pretty quiet until very recently and now seem to be getting a lot busier but still plenty of space around the pool and on the beach.

DH and I double vaxxed no tests. Teens did LAMP tests 48 hours prior to arrival in Palma. Plus filled in Spanish health form.

All documents checked at Gatwick. In Palma they only checked health form. All very quick.

The longest time waiting was for our luggage in the baggage hall.

We've got lateral flows with us from chronomics bought through TUI which we'll do tomorrow and get certificates emailed through from chronomics and PCR tests will be waiting for us at home having been posted to us by Chronomics whilst we're out here.

It is lovely being here but I have to say I do have a low level of ongoing anxiety about catching it out here although it's very unlikely given we're outdoors 95% of the time and don't mix with anyone else. Mask wearing indoors with 100% compliance by all hotel guests which is very reassuring.

The kids are 15,13 and 13.
I’ve booked his boys in 72 hours before departure but think I may change it as it will be over 72 before arrival 🤔
And my son is booked 54 hours before departure 😱 help ladies!

We were there first in July. Had a lovely time and very glad we went. The only thing I'd say is that the hotel we were in was fully booked and under staffed. However it didn't spoil our holiday.
