If you had to hedge your bets and book somewhere abroad last min in a couple of weeks...where would you book? Need somewhere with minimal testing, that is v unlikely to go amber plus or put the UK on their amber plus / red list. At the moment, I'm thinking only Gibraltar really fits that? Any other options?

I'd pick a country that is desperate for tourism, and I'd book it the day before.

Are you double vaxxed? We are in the same boat. I'm looking at countries like Jordan, Morocco, Ukraine, Poland and Romania. I've been to all countries accept for Morocco (although it is v v warm there at the moment!). They were all lovely places to visit with great outdoor spaces. So far they all seem to be letting Brits in. I am thinking that we need to go somewhere that isn't a popular tourist destination for UK tourists. But also somewhere that has OKish vaccination rates and low number of COVID cases. For Ukraine you do have to test on arrival.

@Whatisthisarghh yep double vaxxed but have a 12 year old which is scuppering most options, they're exactly the wrong age! 11 would be fine. I love Romania. Can't find any places that seem to fit for us :(

I think you might be OK for Romania?
The FCO website says: Children aged 3 or under, who do not need to provide a negative RT-PCR test; children aged between 3 and 16 if they provide a negative RT-PCR undertaken a maximum of 72 hours before boarding or arrival if travelling independently.

Poland is definitely out as only accepting up to the age of 12. What about Georgia? Meant to be really nice. But I think there aren't many budget airlines flying there at the moment.

I just posted this on another thread, so C&Ping, but Bulgaria, Croatia, or Serbia might work for you...

Bulgaria (green) & Croatia (green watchlist): antigen test within 48 hours prior to arrival or PCR within 72. Croatia has special rules for non-EU/Schengen citizens which require proof up front that you're travelling for tourist purposes and have accomodation booked for your whole trip. (Hotels, etc. can provide the cert by email for you to print).

Serbia (amber, but stable - it's on the green list for much of the EU): RT-PCR only, less than 48 hrs prior to arrival. Check the special rules for 12-18 year olds, I think there are some additional options for an antigen test within 48 hours AFTER arrival.

Antigua. No cases there at the mo, so you are probably safer than here.

We are going in Sept as we did last year during the height of the pandemic.

They were so desperate for tourists and on resort no masks were needed.

It was if Covid didn't exist.

@Callixte unfortunately Bulgaria is no longer allowing travellers from the UK in.

Madeira. Not full of old people or cruise ships! Just come back...
