History club was formed out of many MNetters' seemingly insatiable appetite for historical debate, forensic analysis, ways of dying, pee and poo through the ages, dynamic despots, evidential disputes and stuff that goes on in caves.

MNHQ were asked to provide us with a Club. Thank you, MNHQ.

The rest, as they say, is hysteria ...

Just found the History Club! I love debating the Tudors and Wars of the Roses. I adore Anne Boleyn and Lady Jane Grey. still remember bawling for 2 hours when I discovered their demises aged 10. Loved history and the characters ever since. My fave historians on tv are Lucy Eorsley, sexy Dan Snow and also fantastic Mary Beard.

And don't forget, Mary Beard is on MN next week for a webchat!

Tuesday 12.30pm for an hour. Brilliant.

I already spend to much time lurking on MN. Finding this club will definitely not help grin

I'm glad you've found us - a lot of people here have really varied interests. It's a kind of learn and educate club, with wild speculation too!

Yay! I only saw that History Club had been formed when I saw the Eric Hobsbawm thread in Active Convos.

<goes off to read threads>

It's great, isn't it?

I've been away for a week or so and really missed it.

Lots of ideas for threads.

My personal faves in the history of history on MN:

Ways of Dying in 1665

Archaeologists are DNA testing some bones they've found to see if they might be the remains of Richard III

Has anyone investigated their family tree and found anything interesting?

AIBUs your Grandma might have written

TheDoctrineOfSnatch Mon 17-Sep-12 23:31:32

Is this really a real new topic? Or is it Anglesey ?

MrsjREwing Mon 17-Sep-12 23:03:44
