Going back to college but not very good at putting on paper what I want to say!

I haven't actually signed up for anything yet but there are a couple of things that I'm interested in. The thing that's putting me off is having to write things down (ie essays etc). If I read a something, I can understand it in my head but if I'm asked to write about it or even explain it to someone else I have a complete block then I start going on about things that are totally irrelevant.

Does anyone know of anything I can do to help? I think ds is the same. At his parents evening his teacher said she was constantly having to ask him to do his work which was to write sentences about the story the class had read. His reading and number work are fine.

Alternatively, if there is no solution to that, does anyone know of any courses that don't involve much writing?! I've worked in childcare for 12 years, since I left school but am interested in child development/midwifery and, randomly, photography!!

most colleges offer support for those with difficulties reading/writing/expressing themselves. Give the college a ring and explain the situation.

Would it have a name?

Found a name - it's called dysgraphia! I'm going to look for more info.
