I think that is really cheesy

I am so grateful they do this

strummer Fri 19-Sep-08 00:39:11

I think its wonderful, don't you dare knock it! wink
Good luck.

But it is a bit odd - Tesco paying for my education

ChirpySquawkPiecesofEightGirl Fri 19-Sep-08 07:48:01

Seriously? How much do you get for the vouchers? (if you dont mind me asking) I have loads of vouchers and can't decide what to spend them on...

ChirpySquawkPiecesofEightGirl Fri 19-Sep-08 07:48:31

Oh, and good for you and good luck!

KatyMac Fri 19-Sep-08 07:51:00

£2.50 = £10 as normal for deals

So 30 points cost me £85 Tescos vouchers

ChirpySquawkPiecesofEightGirl Fri 19-Sep-08 07:56:24

Hey not bad.
Why shouldn't tesco fund your education, think of it as a rebate on overpriced food and petrol...

ssd Fri 19-Sep-08 08:18:35

what are you studying KMsmile

KatyMac Fri 19-Sep-08 09:05:22

this one

Then I am going on to do systems and change management type courses

overthemill Fri 19-Sep-08 09:07:15

ooh so how does it work? do you send them the deals thingies and then pay the extra? i'd love to do an OU course!

congrats by the way,

FAQ Fri 19-Sep-08 09:07:40

wow - I didn't know you could use them for that

Have been debating using Tesco again to get the clubcard points for my shopping, and now I know you can use them for OU I definitely will - I hope to be working by the time I get towards the end of my degree so won't qualify for so much help!

overthemill Fri 19-Sep-08 09:10:27

faq: since we swapped to e.on and also getting petrol at tesco's we have had £35 clubcard vouchers each time. so it realy adds up - we had free day out at thorpe park for 7 people and 5 of us at futuroscope - makes a huge difference to what we can afford as a family

but EDUCATION - wow!

KatyMac Fri 19-Sep-08 09:22:29

Just like everything else - you can pay for the whole course with vouchers or part pay

I am astounded at it all

FAQ Fri 19-Sep-08 09:29:09

I'm already with EON - so get points from that - but have been shopping at Asda online more recently.

Used £10 club cards vouchers to get into Sea Life on Holiday - so think I'm going to switch back and save up grin

PavlovtheCat Fri 19-Sep-08 09:32:21

Katy - it is not cheesy at all. You are getting this 'money' back as a reward for using Tesco. You could use it on buying a new microwave, or something material, but you are choosing to use it to fund your education.

Why on earth not! Good for you, and good luck. What are you going to study?

How fantastic, I wonder who at the OU thought of that! The OU is a fantabulous, innovative, quality institution.

overthemill Fri 19-Sep-08 11:14:05

and about to be closed down or so i heard - not sure where hope its not true

KatyMac Fri 19-Sep-08 11:15:59

Oh no - that would be a disaster

It's only Tescos voucher that allow me to study

I wonder if I should cash them all in

StellaDallas Fri 19-Sep-08 11:18:05

I have only two more course to go till I have my degree, all paid for by Tesco!
Do you mean the OU is about to be closed down, Overthemill? Where did you hear that? I really can't believe it is true.

FAQ Fri 19-Sep-08 11:18:17

overthemill - where did you hear that??

FAQ Fri 19-Sep-08 11:19:34

I can't believe it's true either - I'm sure news like that would have hit the headlines PDQ if it were true.

JRocks Fri 19-Sep-08 11:20:12

I think it's the US Open University that's been closed? Not sure though.

lou031205 Fri 19-Sep-08 11:28:25

You do know that you spent £8500 in shopping for those vouchers, though, don't you? (Not taking into account any specials)

KatyMac Fri 19-Sep-08 11:32:09

&? - which is better? Spending that £85 on more Tesco stuff or on an eductaion?

I thought you meant the offer was closing, Overthemill, rather than OU
