Hi, any parents also in receipt of stdurnt finance and childcare grant (or whatever its official name is)?

SFE have a new system where instead of paying the money to you, they pay to an account in your name. The childcare provider then withdraws fees from the account.

Issue is, SFE are late in processing our application. We will have paid an entire terms fees with no help. This means that when the grant is eventually paid into the account, we will have to ask the nursery to withdraw all the money, then pay us back a significant amount.

If they don't want to do this we will lose the childcare funding for Sept to Dec, as no other way to get access to it.

Any one in similar position, or is using this system all ready? Is there any appeals system or redress with student finance if things go wrong?

Yes, there's a complaints team that are fantastic. I've had issues with childcare grant every year for the last 2 years

Sorry to hear about your issues. Good to know there's a complaints team! How have they ballsed up your grant?

FWIW student finance are the worst company I have ever dealt with, even before the pandemic
