DD has kind of an oral exam tomorrow and the two last homeworks to hand in before Christmas break - all her written exams are fixed for February and papers have to be handed in at the end of March, before the next sem. starts.
She's just been here to use my printer.

New thread!
It’s beginning to feel a bit like Christmas....

(excepting the election ‘blip’)

DD's Christmas dinner with the flatmates and future houseshare mates went well. They are currently watching an old CBBC programme and have discovered that one of her flatmates was in it!

Room allocation received from uni for DD's accommodation for next academic year..... in the same nice, new cul de sac as she is now. In a building the other end, that's more convenient and less far for her lectures and the rest of the campus.
Happy DD. She's already decided she will probably be doing the same in her third year if she can.

Ha, that's funny @Ginfordinner! One of DS's teachers was in Tracy Beaker!

DS home at the relative crack of dawn tomorrow. Clearly he can't wait to see us!!!

Reminder to all those DC who've not yet done so/had their A Level certificates sent to them, to collect before the end of term.

DD has a practical assessment today, and hopefully tomorrow will be less arduous.

Ooo yes A Level certificates. Thank you. Dd did three different exam boards so it will be three different certificates too.

DS home this Friday evening. Hopefully we won't be picking him up from the station and dropping him straight to Wetherspoons like last time he visited.

Although we didn't see him for a while after dropping off in September, we've seen him twice in close succession - once when he came home for a weekend, and once when we went to see him at the Bath Xmas market. It'll still be lovely to see him and have a full house again

DS is home on Sunday with his washing no doubt. He's been home a couple of times this terms, reading week and when I had an operation so it's not quite such a surprise.

Biggest problem I'm having is trying to insure his car for the holiday at a reasonable cost. His insurance ran out an see didn't renew it as it was going to be 3 months and car is in a garage. Cost is prohibitive for short term and almost as expensive for a year.

DS is home Sat, agreed to come on the train although DH did offer to collect him, slightly relieved as Nottingham is terrible for driving in. Can remember going there 35 years ago when I used to interview graduates for the ‘Milkround’, it was dreadful then Grin.

DS & DH off for a skiing trip over the holidays so lots to look forward to. (I don’t ski and have opted to stay home, peace and quiet!).

Just had a buzzing DD on the phone. She has passed her practical assessment and her marks from the first three exams average out at a first. I think next month's exams will be more difficult though.

slalomsuki look at Marmalade insurance - Dd has got 60 days in a year - you can pick and choose which days and phone up on an ad hoc basis.

Brilliant Gin Well done to your DD Smile

DD is coming home tomorrow (picked up by the backpacking parents), she's had an email from accommodation giving everyone (on her campus) a discount because of issues they've had over the last term (building site). It'll get knocked off her January rent bill so it'll go straight into savings in case she runs out of funds at the end of the year Xmas Grin Nice little xmas bonus really.
