Just a heads up that if you want Santander (free 4 year railcard) then it can be done online.

Only if tgey are a new customer. If they already have an account you have to make an appointment as they can't have two current accounts open at the same time at Santander.

We used my Tesco points for a railcard.

We might try HSBC first student account as they seem to offer a cash back bonus. (Not sure if this can be done online)

DS can't do his online unless he waits till the very last minute because he's not 18 until the end of August. But we are going for HSBC because it's a good account and we don't need the railcard that other accounts offer.

yeah we were thinking about Santander but Tesco points can buy railcards so HSBC £100 might be more attractive - are they both similar in overdraft facilities?
