DD will be starting uni in Sept and is keen to buy the new laptop she needs now... Does anyone happen to know whether retailers offer sales for this kind of tec post-results day? In other words, might it be worth her while to wait? Hmm

It might be worthwhile waiting until she can enrol at her university of choice, as she can then use her university email to register with UNiDAYS who offer pretty good discounts with a few manufacturers. She could use her college email to register if she can still access her emails as she'll need to verify the account.

On ebay there is a seller called exdemolaptops. They sell some on auction and some on buy it now. We got mine at a really good price and it's in perfect condition. Worth a look.
I also suggest putting the models she wants on an Amazon wish list and check it every day. It's amazing how prices change.

If she can bear to wait once she starts Uni and gets her student discount she could save a fortune..... My son bought a Mac with his student discount and saved a lot, and also got some free headphones with it, which he sold on eBay and got that money too - for him it was definitely worth waiting until be enrolled, and the laptop came next day delivery too

Also unis often provide free software- ie ms office. Worth checking.

Anyone with a .ac.uk email address can download microsoft office 365 for free - once a year for one device for every year that you have that email address.

Apple do student discount and it's quite a decent amount. You need an unconditional offer letter

I'd wait until she gets there as during Freshers week or a few weeks in big shopping centres tend to host student lock in type events with extra discounts and offers for students
