Is there a board or thread for mature students?

People juggling trying to motivate themselves to comple their own essays, reports, projects and revision with trying to keep half an eye on their own children's homework and exams and drive them to activities and listen to their woes and cooking all the meals and doing all the shopping and laundry for five people and their spouse sulking about their lack of time all that nonsense?

I somehow thought there was a students' board or even a mature students' board, is there not?

The worst thing for me is that I absolutely neeed to procrastinate :o I've done degrees is the past but am retraining and my old study methods are not compatible at all with being a parent in a young family, or with being old and no longer able to power through without sleep for 36 hours...

Anyone in the same boat for a thread or to re-direct me to a different board?

It might be worth trying //thestudentroom.co.uk. There are lots of mature student threads there.

There's a student parents section in Mumsnet. I used it while I was studying.

Ah thank you HSMM - I had vaguely assumed there was something like that, and loked under education so ended up here.... You naming it student parents prompted me to look under parenting instead, and spot it! Many thanks.

The fact a student parents board is under parenting not education speaks volumes I think... Not necessarily about MN but about the way things are when you are studying whilst a parent - being a student is the defining feature of your life when you're a childless 20 year old, but exactly the same work load is just something you fit around everything else if you do the same thing as a 30+ year old mother...

Not sure why a board for parents of students is under education but parents who are students are under parenting though - that seems the wrong way around!

I've been looking on "The Student Room" but most of the "mature students" seem to be 22 year olds worrying about whether they'll make friends or fit in in halls.

I’m about to become a mature student at the age of 48. 4 weeks Monday I start my Nursing degree. I’d welcome some support. My own DC’s are 21 and 20 so I don’t necessarily need parenting help!

Hi 👋
I'm a degree student, single mom and in my forties. There was a thread a while ago but it fell by the wayside :)

Hi from another mature student, carer, single parent, grandparent, self employed, disabled, and fitting everywhere and nowhere all at once.

Multi faceted with multi faceted problems and logistics.

(also had no idea there was a student parents board, personally I'd rather there was something under education rather than parenting, too)
