Anybody know of this degree or, even better, done it? I'd love to hear from you.

It's from the Dublin Institute of Technology and is a 1 year part time online course.

I've heard of it, not done it.

From what I've heard it is very intensive. The guideline for studying is well below what is needed - they say 8 hours, it's very different from usual undergraduate study as you are getting a huge amount of learning in that year. They only accept relevant degrees to do it, which is really necessary. The person I know who did it really struggled with the work as there was far more to do than they expected.

Hi Becca,

Interesting - that was my exact query. I paid the £100 application fee yesterday then found a guy on Twitter saying it's a huge amount of work. The course administrators are assuring me I could do it in 12/15 hours per week, but this guy said it's more like 25-30.

Which there's no way I could do with a full-time job and children.

I don't suppose the person you know who did it is on here, are they, and would mind me asking them about it?

Well the website suggests 8 hours a week, they're telling you to almost double that and my friend who did it was suggesting more in the range of 20. My experience of distance learning (not this course) is that providers under estimate the commitment which pisses me off no end - it's a number on reason for people dropping out of distance learning courses the amount of commitment needed Angry a full degree in a year isn't going to be possible at 8 hours a week!!

Sorry as far as I know they aren't on MN. It's a guy I did my undergrad software engineering degree with, which was intense as well, so he's no stranger to heavy undergrad work load.

If I was you I'd seriously think before doing this course. It's a huge amount of work to do in a year and likely no extensions.

You could try posting in the tech section of MN or maybe chat to see if anyone has experience. Not too sure how else you could contact people who have done it.

(Just to clarify I'm aware guys use MN - knowing his attitude towards women he wouldn't even consider coming on this site!)
