Childhood and Youth Masters OU

No I haven't done it, but interested in it to do. Just finished my BA Early Years with OU and can't decide whether to start studying straight away or leave it a year.

I've had my eye on it for a while. Some of the optional modules are beginning for the last time this Oct.
I'm in two minds. I work half the week and have 1 yo and 3 yo.

I'm looking at it as an alternative to EYT (I will need to do my maths & science GCSE's before I went down that route). I'm in my late 50's and just want to do it for pleasure so to speak although I do childmind between 50 & 55 hours per week.

I am now in my 2nd year of doing it, what would you like to know?

I would love to know if you are doing it for yourself or if you are looking to use it for a future role in employment etc. Is it manageable with a full time job? I have two part time jobs so already quite busy but pretty free once kids in bed in evenings...

I am doing it mainly for myself as turn 60 this week, however should a job come up that really appeals and is worth me stopping childminding for then I would certainly consider applying for it.

I childminding for 55 hours per week on average and find it manageable, but then only have my dh & an adult dd at home. As long as your family are supportive and help you have time to study, especially when a tma is due then yes it is manageable.

I have found the jump up level of study challenging to start, but now enjoy the extended reading and knowledge gained. It is quite different to my early years degree as cross discipline and is undertaken by a wide range of student backgrounds from education to youth justice to social care as well as early years practitioners.
