DD applied to Oxford, Warwick, Edinburgh, Durham and Kings (English).

Was interviewed for Oxford but sadly rejected but we've heard nothing from the other 4 and she is understandably getting anxious.

I know it's still very early days ....

Well DS hasn't an offer for his primary course but does for his reserve. The waiting is a killer!

However, eldest May well have just had the oxford rejection (and Durham rejection) after interview at this stage 3 years ago....

She got 2 offers only despite being an excellent candidate ( not a boast, she is winning prizes now) but you only need 1 place.

Hang in there and hold my hand!

It is only mid January. Some will offer in March! Hang on in there. Which, out of these, was the insurance choice? They look similar to me.

My DD has one offer and one rejection, waiting on 3 others - the suspense is dreadful....!

DS and a number of his friends are still waiting for Durham (DS is a history applicant). He has heard from his four other choices though, but only Oxford also features on your DD's list. Edinburgh often offers late as far as I know, though Warwick and KCL seem more mixed. Has she had any notifications through Track? Did she get the Christmas message from Durham? I'm just wondering if its worth checking with UCAS that her Track is working ok.

If it helps, tell her that the quickest responses to give are the rejections!

If she has not been rejected then it is likely that her application is in the pile which was waiting for the Jan deadline to pass.

DD has had 1 rejection and will have an audition and interview next week at De Montford (dance course) Still waiting for replies from other 3 unis. The waiting is agonizing!! Wish they would hurry up. Still as Creamteas says maybe the waiting is because they are giving careful consideration to her application.

Edinburgh are the last Scottish uni to offer. DS has had four offers from his other (Scottish) choices - he got them back in November - but isn't expecting to hear from Edinburgh until late Feb.

I can totally understand that she is getting anxious. However, at this stage, no news is still fairly good news. If she applied to all the universities before the Oxford deadline, they would probably have rejected her by now if her grades were too low or there were major problems with her reference or PS.

For many more competitive courses, universities will often wait to consider the majority (or at least a large number) of applicants until after the deadline for equal consideration, which was less than a week ago. Hopefully she will start to hear things back relatively soon.

I'm applying as a mature student and I've not heard from Leeds or York

DD had an offer from Durham a few days ago (Geography), but quite a few of her friends are still waiting - so I think it's still very early days, and Durham have a reputation for offering late compared to some others. DD got offers for her 4 other choices before Christmas, so she's now very happy indeed.
