English degree with a baby

Currently 16+3 with my first baby. I (accidentally) got pregnant in my last year of sixth form. My plan is still to go to university but a year later than expected.
I want to do an English Lang and lit degree at my local university.
Has anyone done a degree with a baby? My LO will be 7 months when I start and I plan to work part time too. DP works full time.

Yes, I did. I started uni with a toddler and a baby and by the time I finished my PhD I had 4DC Grin

It was tough but doable. You just need to be very organized.

I also have a few student parents on my courses every year. Some find it more difficult to manage than others, but no one yet has failed to graduate.

Thanks creamteas. Did you get any financial help?

My best friend at uni had a young baby and then she became carer for her mum with dementia! We were all a close group and helped out. I would take her mum for a coffee till she finished her dissertation etc. Its do able! Baby came to many many lectures. She just breastfed him through em and he was quiet as a mouse. Your doimg great by the way. A great example for your baby.

Yes, I got a bit extra to help support the DC on my grant and hardship fund money towards childcare. This was a long time ago though, and the funding system has changed a lot.

Try contacting the student support office at the uni you intend to apply to and they will be able to let you know about how much financial support money you might get.
