I'm hopefully going back to college to do these courses via a college in Bristol, I can't find any information on what I might need to help me with the course. Is it all done on internal computers? do I take notepads and pens or my own laptop ext?
stupid questions I know but its been so long.

I started last sept. all I need is notebook, pen and calculator (mine is from the poundshop so doesn't have to be fancy). If you think you need more after your first lesson then get more, the tutor hands out our textbooks and we have lessons and computer based work. You will need a computer or laptop at home though, but shouldn't for class. Good luck, I really enjoy my AAT course.

Thanks that's really helpful. I applied and was accepted back in 2011 but they stopped the concessions that year and its taken this long to save up. Hopefully its going to be worth it. Do they advise work experience?

The website has lots of places to give you advice on work and possible experience. Ive found that my tutor has been good at letting me know about jobs to apply for as she also does her own freelancing accountancy work too so knows a few accountants.

If you're looking for work experience I would suggest either writing to some accountants in your area to ask if they have room for anyone to do some work experience or take my route and look to volunteer. I currently volunteer in the finance department of a national charity. As far as I can tell a lot of the main charities have offices in their own towns to deal with their locality so that might be an option too.
