Tripp trapp deal - should I go for it

My local mothercare has an ex display tripp trapp with baby set and cushions for £110 - hubby said was still too expensive but ever since I have wondered if I' ll regret not getting it ...... Do people think it' s a good deal or not? I didn't notice any obvious damage from the quick look I had .

Ebay would be cheaper I think (second hand) but it is a good price, they are indestructible. Ours are 20 year old hand-me-downs. The cushions are unnecessary and actually annoying IME.

My DN still uses hers - she's 11.

Cushions are a waste of time.

They are fab

Yes, should have mentioned that my DC still use theirs too, they're 3 1/2 and 5.

Agree on the cushions point. A chiropractor friend was in the house and commented on how good for the posture they are. Very happy with mine despite paying top dollar for it!

Just thought I'd let you know that my 2 DDs still use theirs. They are 15 and 12.

I don't really want the cushions but imagine they wouldn't re- negotiate price on basis of not having them. Have been looking on ebay but are pretty rare in our area and my aunt was saying when she got hers about being different versions depending how old it is? My husband is all for ikea antilop and I agree with him in a way but is just so ugly!!

There are kind of different versions but TBH they're subtle differences rather than significant changes - I manged to fit a new (now 5 year old model) baby set on our (then 15 year old) chair with minimum faff.

Tell DH that they are often used for 10+ years and that the difference between the new price and secondhand resale value makes 'em a bargain - money in the bank as it were. DO NOT mention that you'll end up needing wanting one for each potential future DC Wink

Oh, and find out what new cushions are going for on ebay - would claw a % of the price back immediately.

That' s a good idea about ebaying cushions hadn' t thought of that. Unfortunately dh is one step ahead and already twigged the multiple purchase expense!! Will go and see if they even still have it in morning and go from there I think.

Tripp trapp chairs are brilliant! Worth £110 IMO. My DC love theirs and I love that my 16 can be using the chair he had when he was 6 months Smile

Do it! We have an older version second hand one and it's still going strong. DD (3) loves it.
