I work Thursdays and Fridays.
So far it has worked fine.
But since ds started reception and we've been given a list of dates of things happening I've noticed that term ends on Fridays and the school closes at lunchtime, or 2.30pm.
School plays, discos etc seem to be on Fridays straight after school.
We have one inset day on a Monday and one on a Friday.
I'm starting to think it would help my leave (which is desperately needed for the school holidays not all these random dates in term time!) to work Monday and Tuesday.
Ayone with any views?

I work in school and rarely are things organised on Mondays. With that in mind and early Friday closure I'd work Monday, Tuesday.

What about Bank Holidays at work - do you get them off? Mind you there's only usually one Bank Holiday Monday that isn't incorporated into other school holidays.

I work Monday, Tuesday and Friday. Not my choice at first but now I could easily change I choose not to.

Traffic is always lighter on Friday, and I benefit from all the bank holidays including Good Friday. And Friday is a kind of nicer day at work too.

As far as being available for school stuff, I can swap my days around occasionally if needed, so I guess I'm lucky. School stuff can happen any day, although you're right that end of term is often a Friday, and our school often has parent assemblies.

Probably not much help, but you did ask!

I agree that Friday is a nice day to work, as everyone's a bit D-mob happy.

I work Tuesday, Thurs and Friday which really suits me. I prefer to break up the week so I'm not away for one longer stretch, as it's easier to keep on top of things that way.

I work Tues, Wed & Thurs - I need Monday to tidy the house after the chaos of the weekend, and Fridays are for fun with DD2.

I work Wed, Thur and Fri. Agree, everything at school seems to happen at the end of the week. If it's important like parent's evening I swap my days with my job share colleague. She's in the same position so we swap days quite often to help each other out. Can you ask to be flexible with your days sometimes, ie work Monday instead of Friday?

I am now sahm but did work half day Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

I did this deliberately as I worked for the Council and their policy on bank holiday Mondays was to only give a part-timer working a Monday half a day holiday so you would owe half a day to them for each bank hol.

If you worked the latter half of the week it didn't matter apart from Good Friday.

As someone who used a nursery I couldn't afford to owe work half a day and so it would have come out of my holidays.

Our inset days were all Mondays last year, this year they are a mix of Mondays and Fridays.

I do Tuesday and Wednesday (did do Thursday am until recently). I like my long weekend, and wouldn't want to change that. I also wouldn't like to have a gap between my work days during the week, better to do all days in one block I think.

I work Tuesday to Thursday, its suits me fine and I just change days if a school activity falls on a working day - lots seem to fall on Tuesdays or Thursdays for some reason. Very few have fallen on a Friday.

I work in school do Mon Thurs Fri this was due to the poorer attendance of pupils on Mon and Fri which is part of my job.
But think days together would be better although like i am only ever at work for two days on a row !

I do Mon, Thurs and Fri. Not my choice - these were the only days DDs nursery could offer.

Hmm yes I work every day except Friday and that has always been highly convenient.

In fact it's only since DC have been at school that I have formalised as such (use to be more hours with varying days off).

Insets are nearly always Friday or Monday IME (DH can take Monday off) and often PTA type things are on a Friday (eg fairs and discos after school or prep for a Saturday event). Mind you there's no reason why you should be involved in that if you don't want to.

Things like plays/concerts/class assemblies actually tend not to be on a Friday at our place, FWIW.

I think more people are off on a Friday than a Monday but of course if it's job-share situation then someone has to do the opposite...

The good thing about working on a Monday is that you will thus get a lot more bank holidays (most part-timers don't accrue them unless they would be working IME).

I have a 50% job share and work Monday, Weds and Fri.
With regards to leave, I get 50% of the post's annual leave and 50% of the annual bank holidays, but it is calculated in hours. When there is a BH I exercise the option to work an alternative day, so I effectively take my BH leave whenever i want to.
School stuff can fall on any day, but luckily my line manager is flexible, as is DH's office so getting to events is never a problem.
