i am crap at interviews and i did try

i just dont have suitable experience and wherever i look at whatever level i can see that i wont get the jobs because there will always be someone who is better

if i apply for low paid jobs i hear nothing because no one wants me

if i apply for better jobs then i either hear nothing or 3 times in two years i have had interviews and the in terviewers have basically just been mistaken when they asked me and i have been crap

No real advice from me Zippi as I have exactly the same problem.

I really don't know what the answer is tbh.

It is easy to say keep trying, but I know it isn't that easy to do that when you feel you are getting nowhere.

i was self employed so really difficult to say i did any oif the things people actaully want and no work references

i have too many useless qualifications

and i am too old

i wouldnt employ me because there is always going to be someone with a mproper cv and appropritae experience skills

so although i could do jobs i just dont compare with other people

it is so hard to get motivated applying for jobs when you know the outcome is usually hearing nothing at all

i didnt get thast job hence feeling low

and that was unusually something which i did have the right kind of cv for but that is just so unusual and it was well paid

no one wants me for a badly paid job so those are a waste of time too

It has taken me over 12 months to find Full time work as you probably know but I have FINALLY succeeded.

gosh zippi you are down today! can you take some time out and do something nice today? it might make you feel a bit better

then you should think about how you got that interview and why you didnt get the job. ime interviewers will give useful feedback once you are ready to hear it

then maybe a list of what your skills are
your experience
your knowledge

list what you would like to to that pays eg sell make up in boots, run a farm, teach, work in a library

jobcentres plus do have lots of advice available and so do some job sites like monster i thinkl

i am just the classic met husband at uni when i was 19 and floolowed him around as his job got more and more high powerd and i had kids at home

so roll on to early forties he has a mega bucks job and i couldnt get a job anywhere so started a business with my mums inheritance and lost it

roll on 9 years and this is where i am now

i was told when made redundant to list 100 people and send them my cv

didnt do it but when i set up my website i sent an email to every single person i knew and did actually get interest that way from lots of people who told people they knew

zippi - you feel really down on yourself at the moment, and that means other people will view you negatively too.
You were self employed, so you MUST have a set of skills/knowledge etc, even if you find it hard to see that right now. I think you've had some good advice here. You need to start off by writing down what you have to offer.
Then access ALL the advice you can. There's a lot of support out there these days.
Making a list of what ideally you would like to do could be useful in focusing the mind, but also take on board that you may need to do ANYTHING to get back into work.
You are NOT too old!! I have employed people who on the surface might seem 'too old', 'too out of touch' etc but as long as they are the RIGHT person for the role then thats what matters.

I think you need to do a bit of self affirmation work here lady.

I feel shite today- even with a job - am still in nightie and only have Asda to look forward to.

Can we do a two week swap - decent boyfriend for decent job-? That's what's getting me down,plus fact that new job isn't going to instantly lift us out of poverty.

maybe you are trying for too many different types of job and not focusing on one area?

I know this is far easier said than done. But if you decide what level/ area you htink you're most likely to find a job in and then target every one of those jobs going (as well as contact companies on spec) you might have more chance.

I speak from experience. When I was looking for work, I started off aiming high. Failed. Aimed low. Failed. etc etc. It is extremely tiring looking all over the place as every time you have to completely re-write cv to tailor for appropriate job, research all over again for interviews etc.

Also, chances are if you target one particular field/ job level, then the other people you are competing against are the same. Every job you don't get at least strikes one of your competitors off the list. Eventually your turn will come.

for example, if you apply in the NHS, I believe you just upload your CV and then use the exact same application for every NHS job you apply for. So much more straightforward.
