Hi,

I'm currently on a 2year career break (I had two daughters a year apart and it was the best decision for our family)… So I have a job to go back to with my original employer (a university), but I'm considering a career change into clinical coding.

I just have a few questions and I'm struggling to find anybody who does this job in RL to ask!

I have a strong admin background but I'm hoping to return to work part time for a few years at least. If anyone would let me pick their brains I'd be most grateful, thank you X

Not a coder but have managed teams of coders for some years.
When recruiting trainees (or apprentices) we look for a background of either having studied a scientific subject, having a good knowledge of healthcare (processes / patient workflow) or having worked in a medical field in UK or abroad.
Lots of interest when we advertise trainee posts and also get speculative applications through the year.
Does that help at all ?

Am not the OP but am looking at a career change and this sounds interesting. Would an Access to Health Sciences course be useful here for those with no previous health related qualifications or experience?
