Returning to work after many years- why do I not feel thrilled and excited

That's it really. The initial euphoria of success in my first interview on my first application has worn off. I feel edgy, tired, wondering if I'll cope, if I'm doing the right thing.

I don't need to work, we are comfortably well off. I thought I wanted to work. Have had a very odd year and applied for something entirely different to what my previous career was. It's only one day a week. Why don't I feel happier about it? My first day is next week

Its one day a week. It'll be fine, and if it doesn't work out you can leave. It's just apprehension at the change! Good luck

I started a thread on this a week or so ago, I've been a sahm for 4.5 years and am now starting to apply for things- I'm terrified! I can't even pinpoint what it is, but I think fear of failure is a big thing. Dh is sworn to secrecy that I've even applied for anything as until I have a firm offer I don't want anyone to know.

What is your new post? Is it something new or is it your previous line of work?

Doh, sorry missed that entire last paragraph of your post!

I think it's fairly normal to feel like that. It's very likely that once you get to work and get over the initial uncertainty you'll be loving being back and looking forward to your day!
