Applying for junior role is this daft?

I am a qualified accountant. I have done accounts for over ten years. I now work one day a week in it since dd started school I moved from FT to a pt job this company don’t need me any more hours.

Ive been looking for another pt job but am failing to find a job that works around dd school drop off times and have seen a job very close to me that’s for a junior accountant in a tiny company that basically is paying ‘not enough’ for quite a lot of work but it’s PT again possibly to keep the cost of employing someone down.

I really want to apply but am worried it won’t look good if I go back to working as a junior. Does anyone know if this is a bad idea? Would a potential employer look at it as a bad thing? I don’t need the money but every little helps so would be great to have anything more tbh. I used to earn £3k per month but had to commute for it. This job will probably be minimum wage. I don’t really care about the money but don’t want it to be detrimental to my career!

Hiya I'm not an account so maybe my advise isn't that useful but have you thought about contacting the small company to explain your experience but eagerness to work for them and see if they can negotiate at all?

I don't want to discourage you from working but personally I think it would be detrimental. It's far too easy to be sidelined in your career and this would set you back.

I would and did something similar last year, I now have a higher paid role within the same company. Personally I think it shows a willingness to evidence that you are reliable and committed. Working in accounts 1 day a week is very different to being a qualified accountant, how up-to-date is your knowledge and when did you last work as an accountant?

I did similar as I wanted a part time, local job but I did change my CV, some companies feel threatened by taking on over qualified more experienced employees.

I'd go for it, it's a shame but often to get part time work people do need to move back down the ladder.

Can you do not jobs together?
