Pre-booked annual leave - HELP!!

Hiya. I'm shortly due to return to work after a years mat leave.

During mat leave I applied for another job within the same company - just in a different dept.

I already have annual leave booked under my old manager, which effectively sees me working 3 days per week until the end of the year.

My question is this - does my pre-booked AL still stand and does the Company have to honour this?

Thanks in advance

Surely that depends on your company's annual leave policy?

You need to check your staff handbook/contract.

For what it's worth I did something very similar in-between almost back to back maternity leaves. I made it explicitly clear to my manager/colleagues that I was prepared to be flexible to accommodate any other team members wanting to take time off.

E.g It's hardly fair if you book every Thursday/Friday off until Christmas if doing so prevents anyone else from taking those days during that period.

I think this scenario is different from having a few weeks booked. Did you not ask them when the offered you the role? I wouldn't assume it would be acceptable.

What has the new manager said about it? An employer is legally entitled to cancel leave so long as they provide you with the relevant notice. So no you definitely cannot assume they need to honour it.
