I've been out of the childcare loop a while.
What needs to be done in a nursery? So planning observations, evaluations on planning?? Risk assessments. Have I missed anything??

I do! Safeguarding is a big thing now. Any repeated absences and even accidents at home need to be recorded in our area. Also we have to do two year old checks. Administration of medication and recording of medicines. Recording of accidents. Consulting with parents. The list seems to be growing all of the time!!x

@Samcj02 oh ok. How much stuff to know! Does planning still need evaluating? Things like that?

Yeah we evaluate planning although I don't think it's an ofsted requirement so could differ in nurseries. Also 'British values' is a big thing with ofsted also. Not much has changed in the way of Planning and observations although it's more based around t children's choices and what activities they would like that day. This is also a big thing with ofsted now. They don't like you to plan in advance anymore although I know some places still do this. I hope this helps a bit! Things are changing and updating all of the time!

So it sort of depends on what activities the children choose to do that day and we plan around that and link it in to the EYFS. We they also like to have a teacher input for example if a child wanted to be a firefighter by getting g the firefighter costume out we could extend that by getting water sprayers out and making a makeshift fire. Etc. This is what we do in our area lol x

@Samcj02 that sounds like a lot of hard work in the sense how can you always follow each child's lead? Crazy
