Returning to work after maternity leave

Hello 👋 I'm looking for some advice please.... I am due to return to work next week after being off on maternity leave. I went into work on Monday the 19th of June and I was told I'd be returning to work on Tuesday the 4th of July and my next day would be Thursday the 6th of July, this was written down for me also. I have got childcare arranged for those two days. I have now been informed by a friend from work (on the quiet) those days have been changed to Wednesday 5th and Friday 7th of July. My employer has no informed me personally of these changes. I am so angry 😡 can she do that? I am planning on just turning up on Tuesday as originally planned. I can not deal with the stress of rearranging my child care!! Please can anyone advise me?

I wouldn't rely on what your friend has told you. You haven't been informed officially of any changes day for next week so for the moment you are still working Tues and Thurs. More generally, do you normally work fixed days? Have these days been agreed for your return as Tues and Thurs? Or do your days usually change from week to week? If so, what are your ongoing arrangements for childcare?

I do trust my friend that it is correct my days are changed. My boss likes to adjust the rota and not let people know (she thinks we are mind readers) lol. I don't do fixed days I work in Retail so my days change weekly. My children go to a day nursery so they just go there the days I work. I don't like having to change my days with nursery once I've given them in.
