Competancy based interviews, do you add more yourself?

I've had 1 competancy based interview. I had responses but I don't think they were that strong, it was tough to find relevant examples tbh and I don't think it really shows how you are and what you are capable of, more it's a snapshot of that 1 specific time.

However I have another one coming up. I thought last time they would ask other questions apart from the competancies but they didn't. I think they asked if I had anything else to say, apart from the any questions for them, but at the time I didn't say anything else. Now I'm wondering if I should have tried to sell myself more.

If the same thing happens this time, should I say more? Should I try and sell myself? The competancies are more or less the same ones so my examples will not really be any different and they won't be as strong as other candidates.

I would. Prepare 30 seconds about how you hope that through your answers you've demonstrated that you're the right person for the job. If you're feeling gutsy finish with, "Is there anything further that I can do to clarify my suitability for this position?"

Yup, and don't worry about repeating yourself but practise with different words.

At the end of interview when they ask if I have any questions I tend to ask about one of the processes of the role, how it is done. It makes it sound like I am all ready to get started and instead of leaving the building I would be going straight out to crack on with the job!

Yes. Try and sell yourself and don't leave them in any doubt about how keen you are on the job or how capable. You say your answers won't be as strong as others but you don't know this, be positive! Use examples of soft/transferable skills if you feel you are not as experienced as others. Good luck.

You can shoehorn a bit of CV type information into your competency responses - so say "when I was at X company, I was responsible for Y, so ..." and then go into your example.
