NHS bursaries?

I know that they have stopped the bursaries for midwifery and nursing but are there any other jobs which still gets tuition fees paid? I thought that speech and language therapy, occupational therapy and physiotherapy (maybe even radiography?) did, but I can't find anything concrete or if these are going to be cut?

Does anyone happen to know?

I think they've already been cut,I'm afraid

I wondered if that's the case but I can't find any links!

All gone. Last intake was for nurses this month. Nothing for HCPs or AHCPs. Already it's had a massive impact on how many people are applying for a September start - about a third of the number of expected applications from mature students and just over half the number of overall applications from all prospective students.

What is an HCP/AHCP? Is that a physiotherapist etc?

Are there any degrees you can do that do not require you to pay your own tuition fees? Do the army or any companies pay for you to study?

HCP = health care professional
AHCP = allied health care professional - the therapies, dietetics, radiography etc.

Degree-level apprenticeships here

Yes, there are forces bursaries, I don't know much about them.

Actually, lots of healthcare courses at Cardiff are paid for by the NHS -here

Were they not introducing apprenticeships (which involves degree course) for nursing? Not sure about fees but I thought that was the latest thing.

This surely isn't going to help poor staffing levels? Confused

Very short holidays and full working week for nursing students so god knows how they are expected to support themselves.

I wonder if things will get so shite in the next few years that they'll start the NHS bursaries up again??

Welsh Govt have stipulated that anyone in receipt of a bursary now needs to commit to working in Wales for two years. All very well but as a would-be Welsh student studying and living in Wales, my community is served by hospitals in England which is where I'd have to go for a job Confused

It has had a definite impact on the amount of applications this year. I don't know anyone on my access course who has not been offered a September place for either nursing or midwifery.

The bursaries have been in danger since I trained donkeys years ago they won't be back in my opinion. There's a chance the may back track on tuition fees for some professions but I wouldn't hold my breath.
