Wondering how childcare vouchers work

Hi, this will probably sound really stupid but it's my first child and I'm starting a job in the next few weeks. I will be earning too much to relieve childcare tax credits but the company do childcare vouchers. So would I ask for the whole amount of childcare costs (in my case £600 per month) or is there a limit? Is that then deducted from my pay before tax so that tax and student loan wpuld be worked out as my salary minus childcare vouchers? Thanks in advance

Yes that's how it works, the amount is deducted from your wages before tax. There is a cap though, I believe it's £243 per month or somehing similar. My husband both do it with our employers in order to pay for my sons day care and then settle the rest of the bill with normal wages
