I so agree with you KM!

I'm job hunting too and its all changed so much since pre kids when I could almost walk into a job, now all the online stuff and passwords I never remember really confuses me and puts me off it all!

and sending your cv in an attachment...eek...am a bit hopeless at all this stuff!

I'm finding it difficult to gauge where I am on the pay scale

I think at 48 with a recent degree & previously owning a business & employing people I deserve a decent salary

But so many job here are Min wage & I paid my team way more than that!!

its depressing...I'm on min wage, I earned more when I was 21

very hard to live with

Good advice hutchblue

I took VR recently due to work relocation. Better off financially as a result as debt free but having first interviews in a decade is scary!

So far, 8 interviews and 8 rejections. Two more this week... fingers crossed ... don't worry Katymac I'm sure you will get there.

Learned from experience would much rather be low paid and stress free then earning lots with high stress and the wrong hours though.

I guess but I really only want a few hours - maybe 10-12 but I think £9-10 an hour is reasonable (I may be completely wrong however)

you would probably get that as a nanny part time, like after school hours KM, with your experience that should be fine, but anything like retail etc is low paid and want you to be flexible and will offer you say an 8 hr contract and some weeks you'll do 8 and other wks you'll do 28!!

bit of a nightmare really

I'm not sure I am ready to work with children yet - I was very disturbed by the closure

Yes retail is like that - I am looking for admin/finance or ideally Project management unrealistic moi?

maybe a local company then that needs help with VAT/tax/payroll?

I'd look for something like that, probably set hours and decent pay...hopefully!

Hi Katy.

I've just been offered some work, but mainly voluntary in the Arts.
I know this is another love of yours and wondered if there was anywhere near you where you could pick up a few hours.
The smaller independent i.e not the chains, don't always advertise if they need someone.

I have just applied for a finance role in a small theatre near me

It really does interest me but breaking in is hard & often as you say voluntary which I can't really afford atm

I know my love.
Tbh I need paid work but just couldn't find anything. Luckily though dh business ticking over so we won't starve.
Good luck with the finance job, it will be a foot in the door and then when something in house comes up you'll hear first.
Did you meet all the requirements and have you had somebody look over your cv.
I'm not offering though as not sure myself Grin
