The general ones like:

  • why have you applied for the job?

-what skills do you think you can bring to the setting?
  • what experience do you have of working with children?

Then there will (should be) one around safeguarding - possibly a scenario, e.g. You notice a bruise on one of the children, what would you do? Or perhaps- you notice that a child is constantly hungry at nursery and eats a lot of food at snack time, what would you do?

Others could be:
  • a child in the setting is struggling to settle when dropped off, what would you do to try to help them settle into the group.
  • possibly a question about supporting children with SEN - maybe a child at the setting is visually impaired, how would you support the child to access a musical activity with the group? (Not a great example - but all I could think of! )
  • can you tell us about a time when you have had to have a difficult conversation with a parent.
  • can you explain an activity that you might plan for a group of 2 year olds based on developing their fine motor skills.

I'm sure there are lots of others that could pop up, those are a few I could think of off the top of my head!
