Interview date changed and now I don't have childcare

I've been a sahm for nearly 6 years and have an interview next week. Hooray!

The advert said the interviews would be on Thursday but now they've changed them to Friday and I don't have any childcare on Friday and dh has an important meeting he can't miss. The interview is 9am til 2pm and a1hour drive away.

What do I do?

I've never had to be difficult about an interview before. I've always been able to attend.

Dc are 2 and 5 (5 yo will be at school but will need breakfast club and someone to pick her up if I'm a bit late)

How frustrating, OP. Are there any SAHMs in your five your old's class you could ask for help? Or Google emergency childcare services in your area - not sure how much that would be but I imagine it wouldn't be cheap. If that fails - as a last resort, you could just say you have a pre-existing commitment that day, and ask if they can change it to another day that is mutually convenient.

Try a local nanny agency, it'll be expensive I suspect but probably worth it!

Thanks for your replies.
Sadly no money to pay for a nanny- we're on a shoestring as it is and I might not get the job and even if I do it's not going to be particularly well paid. Plus it's teaching so wouldn't start until September.

I don't know any mum's in dds class well enough to look after ds all day.

I guess I'll just have to ask them to rearrange the interview. It just feels like I'm starting off on the wrong foot.

There's no harm in asking. Just be prepared that they may well say no Sad When we arrange interviews it's a nightmare to book rooms, arrange interviewers etc... We did offer one on the same day outside of normal hours though so there's always a possibility!

Fingers crossed for you that they'll be accommodating. I wouldn't mention it was a childcare issue specifically, just that you have another commitment that day. Although it's a fact of life, some people get a bit funny about anything child-related.

Thanks. Yes good point. I won't mention childcare.
