Hello - I am about to apply for some teaching assistant jobs, I am struggling with the section where I have to 'sell myself' and tell them why I am the one for the job! I have almost finished the ta course, been volunteering in a school for last year, been a dinner lady for last 18 months, competent in literacy and numeracy, willing to train/take courses to improve/progress, love what I do and have three children of my own:) can anyone help or offer ideas on what I can write? Thank you:)

'I am an eager, hardworking and dedicated person who has secured their interests in primary education through school volunteer work and paid employment as a dinner assistant. My practical experience and learning have helped me develop the skills to work effectively in a classroom environment, and I can now work under pressure and across multiple tasks at the same time, while still maintaining the child friendly attitude required.'

Something like this?

'About me' sections are the place to tell them that you have the skills that they want, how you got them and what you would bring to the job.

To write it look at the job spec and just tell them that you have each of the skills they ask for and provide evidence of how you gained that skill.
To sell yourself employers look for key words such as positive, passionate, motivated, and someone who will go the extra mile.

It's hard to sell yourself but teaching assistant jobs get so many applications you have to really go for it! Cross reference everything on the person specification, add as many things as you can even if you don't think it's important/relevant adding examples even if it's something you do outside the school environment. I work as a TA, if you want to email me to proofread it for you pm me, good luck! Smile
