No.
God,leave, esp. if you can do the 24 hour shift thing!
Sounds ideal.

Would they offer a career break?

Well all the sahm's I know (and I am not a SAHM)woiuld not trade money for the time they have with their kids. Even ones with high paying city jobs.

I think the real question is do you need to work at all?

Could you take a break and then go for the 24hr thing if you need to and with a clear head?

Next year ds starts kindy in the mornings - most of my teaching is in the afternoons/evenings. Therefore my lovely business I have built up around my 1.5 days childcare I have is all being moved around and if it can't be done when he is at kindy or in bed then it ain't being done. I will be sad to see some of my pupils go - but I would be sadder still to have missed my son grow up.

The 24 hour thing sounds great - 13 days with 26 commutes versus 1 weekend - no question which is better for everyone. Being self employed involves less angst I find. You mention stress - but would that just be while you were there? You wouldn't spend the next 4 weeks worrying?
