New job after ML and struggling...

After ml I decided to quit my job as I'd been there years and my boss was a dick.

I've got a new job (been there three weeks) and I'm really struggling. (New boss is a dick too but that's another thread Wink).

I'm so completely exhausted. It's only part time Blush this is how my week goes:

Mon
8:30 take dd to nursery
9:30 get home
12:30 take ds to my parents and get to work for 1:30
6:30 finish work puck both children up home by 7:15
Put ds to bed, jump in the bath, have some dinner sort stuff for next day and bed by 9.
Alarm at 5 get myself and ds ready out the house by 6, drop him at my parents and at work by 6:40.
1:30 finish work, swing by to get ds and he by 2:15. Have lunch and leave at 3:30 to get dd from nursery. Home by 4:30 to start dinner.

Weds
Nursery runs 8:30 and 2:30.

Thurs nothing

Friday leave at 7:30 with both dc get to work for 8:30. Finish at 1:30, get children home by 2:15 finally have lunch at about 3.

Saturday have dc on my own again for 12 hours whilst dp does over time and plays football.

I'm so tired. I feel like everything is ruined. Dd (3) is being horrendous as is ds (9mo) and I'm sure it's all because of me working. I know people manage much more (I have a stupid genetic disease [hidden disability] which causes extreme fatigue).

Sorry I know there's not much anyone can say maybe it will get better? Will the children get used to it? I want to just get in the car and drive away Sad

Thank you for reading my moan Grin

It will get better. Your dc will get used to the routine as will you. It's still early days yet.

How organised are you? Do you feel like you're playing catch up all the time?

It is hard but your working day seems relatively short??
I work 3 12 hour days & manage. It's hard as everybody is settling in. Give yourself time, plan/make din dins in advance etc. I promise it will get better [hugs]

If your DP has time to himself to play football on a Sat, do you get time to yourself on a Sunday? If not then that needs to change, you can't be expected to do everything every day if he isn't!

Does your eldest need to be at a nursery that takes you an hour to do the nursery run? Is there no way she can be closer to home?

Give it a bit of time to get used to, but if you are struggling too much then something has to change.

The days are short, yes, it's shift work. I just feel like I'm always driving around Grin I think we're pretty organised, I'm never running late or forgetting things just so tired! Dd is playing up so much too and I keep losing my patience with her.

The nursery she goes to is the closest one to us, we're pretty rural.

I don't like to do anything on my own on a Sunday really as it's the only day we're all together. Sometimes dp will take the children out so I can on with some work (I'm doing a diploma).

You're doing a diploma as well are you insane

Going back to work is tiring. You dd will be adjusting to the new routine. Cuddles and a bit of one on one play will help. Maybe get up earlier in the morning, get ready then spend some time with dd? I find ds is much better if we've had a bit of time, even if just a few stories.

Good idea I will make more of an effort with her. We've only in the last three days managed to get ds to sleep past 5am dd is not a morning person though!

Yes we've got 5am wake ups here. Our two are both sharing (3&1) so try and sneak ds out when he wakes and sometimes dd will sleep longer.

I discovered that cbeebies doesn't start until 6am Shock

It's a new routine and will get easier. I work full time so feel constantly running around, however just by putting my ds (6yrs) school clothes and pants/socks for the week, folded in a box in his bedroom on a Sunday, saves a little time and panic in the mornings! It's the small things Smile

Hmm weekly planning instead of daily that's a great idea thanks Smile
