Can I get extra leave following maternity leave

I'm currently using holiday that I accrued whilst on maternity leave but am due to return to work in January. Can I extend my leave,,what options if any are available as I do not feel ready to return to work yet.

You can ask for leave without pay. Depends on your company's policy but I was granted some extra time this way.

Does your company have a career break policy? Mine has one for leave between 3 months and five years. You need to put forward a business case. A lot will depend on how they can cover your continued absence I imagine.

Hello, as far as I am aware you are still technically employed by the company whilst on a career break although obviously you don't get pay/holiday leave etc. Also any time on a career break doesn't count when it comes to any reckonable service (for pensions). Whilst you are on a career break, just like maternity leave, the company has to keep a job for you but it doesn't have to be the job you were doing. So for example, if you were an admin in dept.A when you return you may have to be an admin in dept.B.
However, bear in mind that a company doesn't have to offer career breaks but if they do they have to fully set out all the terms and conditions so read these carefully first.
