Are there any job agencies specialising part time jobs?

Hello all. I'm currently on the verge of popping with DC2. I've worked 4 days/week since going back after DS, which has worked ok for me and I'd like to stay at 4, or possibly 3, days/week for the foreseeable future. But I'm sort of fed up in my current job and would like to try and find something different when I return to work in a few months time, rather than necessarily go back into my current job. Trouble is that whenever I've looked around the job market I've only ever seen full time jobs advertised in the area that I do. I work in corporate communications and PR, but have a pretty wide range of experience and I think I'm realistic about salary expectations etc. So the way I look at things I will have to either apply for a full time job, take a full time job (if I get offered one!!) and then have a conversation with the employers about trying to go part time, OR raise it at interview (which I'd have thought would rule me out of the job given it's not been advertised as a part time role).

I know there are part time jobs out there, but they just don't seem to be advertised.

Does anyone know of any recruitment agencies who specialise in filling part time roles, particularly in my sort of field?

don't know of any specialist agencies, but Reed usually has a broad variety of PT and FT work. also, the guardian has a media jobs section and i've seen PT work advertised.

you should bear in mind that if you leave a job post maternity leave, you might have to pay back any extra (over SMP rate) pay you get, you might not be entitled to parental leave straight away (as you'd be a new employee) and you would be in a more vulnerable position with your legal rights in employment.

Hi - there are a couple of websites dedicated to working mums - www.capabilityjane.com and www.jobsformums.co.uk. Both are pretty good and have everything from full time with flexible employers to part time, home working etc.

You could apply for full time and raise the prospect of part time in the future, you would have to work with them for 26 weeks (6 months) before you would have the right to apply for flex working and then the process could take 3 months so worst case scenario you would need to factor in 9 months of full time working with no guarantee that they will approve your request..... They shouldn't rule you out of the interview process if you did raise this as this would potentially be sex discrimination and you do have protection against this even when not employed!

Good luck, it's really hard, I've just had DD2 and was full time before, am researching home working as really dont want to go back to morning drop offs, commuting etc.....
