Hi all, I am looking for parents of Gifted and Talented children within the North East of England to take part in a market research focus group. I am a Mother of a (nearly) 3 year old boy who is exceptionally able, and myself and my husband are struggling to find a school that will meet his educational and social needs. He doesn't meet the criteria for a special needs school, yet he would be bored out of his mind in a mainstream school! I don't really like the idea of a learning support assistant as I want him to feel included and equal to his peers.

I am looking to set up a gifted and talented unit where all of our gifted and talented young people can learn together at their own pace, with like-minded individuals without having to conform to the learning style of 29 other children.

Therefore I am looking for people to come and talk to me about your thoughts on this matter, and share your experiences in order to ensure that I am on the right track. I need to know whether people think this is a good idea, or a bad idea and if you feel there is a need for this sort of provision, or whether you feel the mainstream schools meet the needs already of these students. Please contact me if you have anything you may be able to add, and if there is enough response I will try and arrange a meeting where we can all sit down and talk together. I'll bring the tea and biscuits, all you need to bring is your much valued experience!

P.S. Please follow the link below as I have also created a survey to collate the thoughts and opinions of parents to further add to my 'evidence portfolio'.

Thank you. :D
