Hard skin on feet

There's not much about me that's pretty .. but I do have very nice feet. Seriously, I've been told that by a lot of people and even told I should be a foot model lol.

However I am plagued by hard skin on the soles, and I don't mean the odd callus, but really thick skin - toes, balls of the feet and heels. It's a constant job trying to keep it under control.

I go to a yoga class, where we are supposed to be barefoot and there are old ladies and gents with beautifully soft feet, not a callus in sight. Half the time I wear socks because I am so embarrassed at mine, if I haven't had a chance to give them a going over before the class. I had to lie and tell the instructor that I have a verruca to explain the sock wearing.

The best thing I've found so far is the ped-egg, but it's a pain to use, grating away for hours to get them smooth lol (sorry to be so graphic), slathering on the moisturiser afterwards etc. It's great once I do it, but then a couple of days later it's back again.

Does anyone have any other suggestions or products to help with hard skin on feet? By the way, a pumice stone doesn't even touch it I'm afraid.

Book an appointment with a chiropodist - it's not very expensive, and they will remove all the hard skin with a scalpel and make them lovely and smooth.

DH has horrid troll feet on the bottom and round his heels, and one session with the chiropodist works wonders

The Scholl Cracked Heel cream worked wonders on my hooves

If your hard skin grows back really quickly, definitely go and see a chiropodist.
Perhaps you have an undiagnosed psoriasis-like condition on the soles of your feet, which causes the skin to renew itself faster than usual? Are your feet painful in any way?

Flexitol. It smells rank but my feet love it

DH has the same problem so I dragged him to we went to the doctors. He has been prescribed some Eucerin cream which has urea in- something dry skin doesn't have enough of.
It's not perfect but it is better than it was. GP also said not to overdo the using of a corn knife for potato peeling pedicure removing dead skin as it stimulates it's growth. Once a week max apparently
Am still convinced there must be an underlying problem as the rest of his skin is baby soft

I got some moisturising socks from avon (just cotton socks really), I smother my feet with diprobase put on said socks overnight and I can tell the difference after one night. This softens the hard skin and I use a foot file from bodyshop to get rid of the skin.

My hard skin is so bad DH says I have feet like Bilbo Baggins

Use a corn knife. File with the body shop foot file nightly.
Take a long look at your shoes, if they are hard/thin soled with no "give" in them-like flip flops/sandals/crocs consider buying something to cushion your heels and feet (pound shops often have them)

I have the same problem, and the answer is to see a chiropodist periodically, use Flexitol Heel Balm morning and evening - really good, and get some advice on the shoes you wear.

OK, to put another one in! I used to do this all the time - rubbing off the dead skin etc etc, the one time that was truly amazing was when I spent a fortune (and oh so worth it!!!) on having it done professionally at a scholl clinic! There they told me that the best course of action would be NOT to scrape at my feet as this stimulates everything and won't actually help in the long term but what will is soaking your feet in hot water as hot as you can stand. Interestingly am now pg and relishing a nightly bath and although not great my feet are not nearly as hard skinned as they used to be. That along with a combination of the other things like lots of moisturising can really help.

Also do you smoke? Found since not smoking my skin on my feet is a lot better - apparently feet are one of the places that toxins release themselves too.

I’ve had terrible trouble with hard cracking skin on my feet for years! I’ve seen the foot dr & everything! I started using a foot rasp in the bath around six months ago & it’s done wonders for my feet. Use it once a week on wet skin the moisturise straight after 👌🏼It cost me around £3 on eBay. Good luck.

In the shower when my feet are wet I use a foot file. I then use a foot cream with urea. I’m using a eucerin one just now. I only use the foot file around three times per week.
