I've been getting sharp stabbing pains in my chest on and off today, I think it was because I have been decorating so lots of stretching and I must have pulled a muscle or someting. It seems ok now, just hurt if I took deep breath or reached up. Could it be the same thing for you?

i get this a lot (stabbing pain in my chest, hurts more when i breathe or move) and it turned out to be my stomach.

how do you know it was your stomach?

i went to my GP who checked my heartbeat, blood pressure etc and said that he needed to rule out it was my stomach before sending me for other tests. so he put me on tablets for my stomach and they got rid of the pain while i was on them. now i am no longer on the pills as they were unsafe for when TTC, so i have to take gaviscon or rennie instead when needed.

i would advise you to get it checked if it worries you. it is a frightening thing to have pain in your chest.

I had this and spoke to a doctor who said that it was a pulled muscle (I was convinced I was having a heart attack) - I couldn't move when it happened. It didn't happen again. I phoned NHS direct and the doctor was really sure that was what it was.

if you were having a heart attack you would feel a lot of pain on your left arm , plus you would feel generally like hell! this sounds like a muscular thing - dont worry!

also should add that my GP said that most pains like this would be muscular rather than heart problems.

This sounds exactly like the kind of pain I get from time to time. Sometimes it's so painful it causes me to clutch my chest and double over - very frightening both for me and dh. My gp investigated this and sent me to a heart specialist which confirmed all was well with my heart. I did, however find this on a website:-

Transitory Benign Chest wall Pain

Chest pain, especially among children, adolescents or young adults, is relatively common. While this can be a symptom of heart disease, it is also frequently benign and not significant. This type of chest pain is known as transitory benign chest wall pain (TBCWP).

TBCWP may be brief and often sharp. However, people experiencing this kind of pain do not need medication or other forms of treatment. Instead, family members are urged to learn how such a painful and often alarming sensation could be normal and not indicative of a disease.
