My bum is bleeding. No pain, but loads of blood - like dripping into the toilet. What's that all about then?

I wouldn't bother with NHS Direct, ring your out-of-hours GP. You will get to speak to a GP who can advise you on what to do next.

Sorry, I was in shock over essbee's spot.

Actually, I was putting the boys to bed.

Essbee, you are an angel. Dp is here, so if I need to go off anywhere, we're sorted. But you are very very sweet.

Right, you've convinced me. I will ring NHS Direct.

have you got piles? because big piles can bleed quite a bit

Report
expatinscotland · 13/08/2005 19:03

You could have internal piles and not know it. Or a small anal fissure. Ring NHS direct immediately.

Report
Janh · 13/08/2005 19:11

When they say piles, fisil, they mean "hemorrhoids (HEM-uh-roids)" btw

Sorry, I know piles aren't funny, it's the pronunciation guide that tickled me (wouldn't you know it's an American site! Let's see - "hee-more-hoyds" perhaps?)

Hope everything's OK, chuck

NHS Direct will be getting back to me.

I would know if I had piles, wouldn't I? But I didn't know about internal piles. I did give birth 3 months ago, so it's not impossible.

I had surgery a few years back for anal fistulae. I was discharged about 7 years ago, but maybe it's connected?
