Fingers crossed she's OK, Misdee. DS had his kidney scan today (the radioactive one) and I couldn't cuddle him from 11am until 8pm

no idea. just got an appointment through from radio9logy. she has a growth/tag on her ear since, well before she was born really. apparently the tags can also indicate problems with the kidneys and bladder.

The first scan DS had was an ultrasound, this one he's had today was called a DMSA examination.

Thought he'd have to be sedated, but he wasn't, thank goodness.

hope she isnt radioactive afterwards, would that mean she cant go to the hospital to see dh after?

DS was requested to be on the ward for 8.30am today and I had a pile of info about the scan sent to me with the appointment letter - I'm sure you'd know if she was having the DMSA scan. Does it say ultrasound on the letter?

it says ultrasound, so no radiactivity

No Misdee. I'd have thought it would just be the sort of scan you have when pregnant initially. As long as she dosen't have an xray where she has to have a kind of dye injected there will be no risk like that.

I'm sure it will just be an ultrasound - they do that first, as it's non-invasive. DS loved it - he got to watch telly while people said he was a good boy The telly was his kidneys and bladder on the screen, which was a bit odd though!

Good luck with the scan, Misdee.

i've already seen her heart in great detail on a scan whilst i was carrying her, that was very odd.
