Pimple/blister type thing on child's nipple

Ds3 (aged 2) has had a small white pimple on his nipple for months now. I didn't like to see it there, but it didn't seem to be doing any harm and so I didn't take him to the doctor.

Then just now, he suddenly said he was hurting on his chest. I looked, and the tiny white pimple (like a spot on an adolescent) has turned (over night?) into a much larger purple blister type thing. I suppose a bit like a blood blister or maybe a mole. I am worried sick about this.

Now I will obviously take him to the doctor tomorrow, but in the meantime I have over 12 hours to worry about this. Does anyone recognise what I have described and can put my mind at rest about what it is please?

it actually sounds like molluscum .. and if it is then it goes red and inflamed usually about 2 weeks before it disappears and is nothing to worry about at all .. common childhood ailment

still best to take him to doctors if you're worried

did you ever notice that it had a little indentation in the top?

Thanks for replying Twiglett. No it doesn't/didn't look like molluscum to be honest, which I have come across before. Looking at it again since posting originally, the whole nipple is slightly raised and redder than the other one. Any other ideas?

Anyway, could he get just one spot if it was molluscum? Could it go unchanged for months and months? Does it then change to become raised and red and sore in just one day? It can't have been like that longer than one day as I would surely have noticed it.........wouldn't I? Bad mummy syndrome is raising its ugly head here!

DS had one sole molluscum on his back for 8 months

it changed to red overnight .. a kind of ring or red in the skin around it and looked swollen and sore .. it stayed red for just over a week and then disappeared

not sure what else it could be .. if it looked like a little white pimple it sounds just like the thing DS had

I am sure it is nothing to worry about unduly, but check with GP tomorrow .. nothing bad will happen overnight ..

In a way, that does sound like what ds3 has, but I have just got back from the doctor and she had no idea what it was and certainly didn't mention molluscum either. She has given me an anti biotic cream to take away the inflammation and I have to take him back in 2 weeks if that doesn't get rid of it completely. She did mention it might have originally been some sort of cyst or a blocked duct as it is in the nipple, but basically, she had no idea.

Why do my children always get the conditions no-one has ever seen before? This isn't the first time for ds3 who once was referred to a hospital paediatrician about something completely different and even he had to look up his condition in a book!
