Ovulatory Pains?!?!?!?!

Right people im so confused about this!!

On monday i had a pain in my lower abdomen, not like a period cramp more like a stabbing pain. Took painkillers and hiped it would go away. It got to the point i couldnt have kids on my knee as it hurt so much!

Kept taking painkillers n also took codine tablets before i went to bed. At about 1am after having to drag myself up to see to ds2 i threw up the pain was so intense.

Went to fpc thinking coil was disloged to be told it was ovulation!!!

Has this happened to anyone else? This was the worst pain i have ever experienced!!!!!

Hope not to scare you - but the first thing that springs to mind is - ectopic pregnancy .. ?

Louise1980 · 29/07/2005 21:17

yes i know crystaltips, it did but i want to fpc n she wouldnt even concider it! I have a coil fitted.

Strange thing is tho ive almost convinced myself i am pg!

Would it show up on a pregnancy test?

I get ovulation pain quite badly and regularly take painkillers for it...it is often worse than period pain. Good for knowing when your fertile but can be really sore.....you sound worse than me mind pet. Hope it gets better.

Do you still have the pain now? If so it is worth getting checked out for ectopic..... it should show up on a pregnancy test, but not always apparently (though don't take my word for that, I'm not medically trained). Can't beleive the nurse at fpc wouldn't consider ectopic, as I thought you were more at risk of this with a coil?

I get really bad ovulation pain,am in alot of pain for most of the day, and some months is worse than period pain, but never bad enough for me to be sick. Might be worth going to see your GP for peace of mind.

I sometimes get this in my right lower abdomen, due to damage from a large ovarian cyst I had a several years ago. But, this would only be likely in your case if the pain were specifically to one side or the other. Did it feel like burning?

My uterus twinges and I get period pains for a week or so before periods start, but not as severe as the pain you describe.

If it continues or occurs again, I'd push to have it investigated further.

Sorry, meant to add that I've found heat (warm bath/wheat bag/hot water bottle) a great way to control pain, particularly in this area.

I really do sympathise though, I often go into shock with it if I can't catch it in time.

Thanks for you help girls.

Im goin to test just to be sure, at least then I know.

If it goes on i will see my gp. Its still niggling but not as severe as monday/tuesday.
