it was 36.7 yesterday as she was a bit wingy so thought maybe she was unwell. at 7pm it was 39.6 just done it now its 39.8 - she is very hot to touch but doesnt seem unwell as such.
i thought maybe she was teething, but she already has 4 teeth on top and 4 on bottom at front, i was told cannines and molars dont come til second year, so can it be teeth?
i have stripped her to nappy - gave her some medised at about 7pm, stripped her down to just nappy in her cot and room temp is 24 degrees - should i be worried?

thanks x

Teeth unlikely to cause a temp this high. I would take her to the doctor in the morning - may be an ear, throat, chest or urine infection.

You're doing the right thing with medised - give more if she wakes in the night and is hot. Also tepid sponging works (but they often hate it). But don't let her get chilled.

Hope she's better very soon.

thanks hunkermunker - i have got myself all in a panic, and dp works nights so im on my own. they are so precious its horrible when they are ill - but the good thing is that she isnt acting ill - the only thing out of character today was that she was quite clingy and sleepy. i hope shes ok

thanks x

If you gave the medised at 7 her temp should have come down. Is she awake now? I'd check her again in an hour and give more medised if she's still as hot.

DS isn't well atm - I know just how you feel. He's had recurrent UTIs - his temp has been 40.9 It's very scary and worrying - I wish he could tell me what's wrong

She'll be OK - it just seems worse at night. Ring NHS Direct if she's hot in the night and you want someone to talk to. The number is 0845 4647 xxxxxx

It's quite high - if it gets any higher try sponging her down with tepid water. Have you got any Nurofen? It's better for reducing temperature than paracetemol (Medised). If not, Medised is every 4 hours isn't it? She can have some more at 11 then?

If she seems OK in herself - not groggy or disorientated - I wouldn't be too worried. If her temp goes up very much higher though, or you feel worried at all - ring your doctor straight away.

her temp has risen since 7 - although i only checked her temp at 7 and again now - she woke when i did her temp but seems to have settled down again.

another thing is that she always sleeps on her back and she keeps lying on her tummy tonight, never happend before?

And yes, I would take her to the GP in the morning if she is still poorly.

You're nearly at the 4 hour interval. I'd give her more at 11 and then go to bed. She might be sleeping on her tummy if she's sore and finds it more comforting?

well after i logged off last night, she woke up so i gave her some more mediced. this brought her temp down quite a bit to i think about 38. then she work up and was retching, and brought up a small amount of sick. she woke up a few times in the night.
this morning her temp was 37 and she was her normal perky self. i work funny shifts and was awake for 23 hours yesterday and off today, so it was my lie-in day of the week - i asked dp to make a doctors appointment for her but he forgot, and said there wasnt much point now as she was better.
however when i out her to bed tonight her temp was up again, 38.7 so i am baffled now!

how is your ds? hope he feels better soon. how old is he?
