he was having a bad reaction to cyclazine(anti sickness) and was really spacing out. he is also having a blood transfusion as we speak as his heamoglobin level is too low. he was asking me what it means and i dont have a clue.

but he met the channel four film crew today about a future show which starts filming in sept. they are very interested in him and the LVAD side of things. so he may be filmed as he will still be there in sept.

Misdee I had a really bad reaction to cyclizine a couple of years ago when I was in hospital having a gynae op.I had had it loads of times before and it does space you out but always ok This time I was in a real state dp said he had never seen me like it I recovered in about 6 hrs but I was reallt terrified at the time The doctors thought it was possibly because i was so anaemic that it affected me more strongly so that is a possibility with Peter I needed 7 pints after the op and thats when it happened Hope things pick up for him soon Why did they give it to him Is he being sick ATM?

If a patient has a low heamoglobin it means their red blood cells are low. These blood cells are the very important ones which carry oxygen around the body. Topping him up will raise his heamoglobin (hb) his oxygen levels should raise with this and he will hopefully feel much better in a day or two. heres hoping.

Hi Misdee, have you any idea how long it has been like that for? Only because I wonder if it is anything to do with the devise he has in there which might (I don't know for certain) increase the pressure in there. Or has he had any of his heart drugs weaned recently? Like Adrenaline perhaps? This might make his BP raise slightly if it has recently come of as its job is to dilate the veins, therefore slightly reducing the blood pressure, although this is not its main use. HTH

cut and paste from cardiomyopathy thread..........

'Peter isnt too great today, very down. has been told that atm hardly any transplants are happenign due to lack of donors, so more LVADs are going ahead. atm on the unit there are at least 7 people with different LVADs. |Peter has also been told he is looking at at least 5month stay, but more l;ikely 6-12months. '

he doesnt want to see the kids today as he wont be able to cope with the noise and stress. so i dont know if ican go in today.

all i know is what the programme is called (i dont know if i cvan say on here so wont risk it), and they are highlighting the need for people to become donors, and the massive shortage. i dont know if i want to go on film right now, maybe by sept i will change my mind. i might slip in a mention of mumsnet
