That's a relief, Misdee. Hope he has a really good night in the thingy unit. Hope you hear from his Mum asap - it will help to get a report, won't it?

he will be ventilated for a few days in an induced coma. then they will bring him out of it and off the ventilator. hopefully within a few weeks he'll be out of ITU and back on the ward and the girls can visit. its not uncomman however for patients to go back to theatre as there can be many other problems and risks with this op.

Glad to hear he's out misdee.

Are the girls not allowed in ITU? or are you choosing for them not to see him in there - I do understand if that's the case.

Sending lots of positive and well wishes his way from Somerset, Misdee - and lost of positive wishes to you and the rest of the family too. Hope it does the trick until a new heart is available.

Deedee - hope he makes a full and speedy recovery so you and the girls can be with him.

Bless them - it must be very hard on them.

Report
potty1 · 06/07/2005 18:06

I think it's best avoided whilst he's on the vent - and when the unit is busy too - hope you get some more info soon misdee.

misdee · 06/07/2005 18:07

tbh i am worried about them seeing him with the pump(s). its gonna be hard for them.

Young children are quite accepting of things though aren't they?

misdee · 06/07/2005 18:09

they'll be very cautious, but they have seen the scars fr4om the ICD, and coped with the line oin his neck, just this thing is very very visable, and he wont be able to hold them easily.
