Is there any real evidence that saccharin is bad for you?

Been using it for years and now heard it gives you brain tumours. Is this just another scare story?

Yes it can cause cancer, but it's argued you'd have to consume a HUGE amount of it. \link(\US FDA does a decent summary}. Personally i still try to avoid these things, but up to you.

It tastes mingin'. I was surprised to see it in products here - it's a banned substance in some countries.

I think Nutrasweet (aspartame) is far more concerning - it (apparently) contains a source of phenyl analine.....and my sketch memory of chemistry (ancient history) suggests that analine is BAD - but I can't remember why.......

Yuk! I despise are artificial sweetners. They all taste fake to me.
