been to see dh. they have put him on the new strong drugs (dobutamine)) but th3ey are going to keep him on it till the op. they have given him sheets on the device (javik 2000) and iwill be trained on how to de3alwith it if things go wrong. havent actually spoken to the docs myself but will do at some point in the week. feel very overwhealmed right now, its like i'm watching someone elses lives unfold not mine and dh's.

i've got to be trained on how to check batteries, make sure its all conected, what to do if things go wrong etc.

Sorry that it has had to come to this. I think I can understand what you said about 'watching someone elses life', I felt like that when dh went off to war. Not sure if this is the right thing to say, but I always found that when the 'thing' happened it was easier to get on with it, than cope with the 'dread' of it.
Sorry, I'm waffling. Sending every good wish under the sun and praying like crazy for you all. Hugs

anorak Sat 02-Jul-05 18:26:16

Do you know when they're going to do it misdee?

I'm not surprised you feel overwhelmed. Can only repeat what's been said before and send good wishes for a problem-free op and speedy recovery. Don't forget what I said about the possibility of helping out. xxx

you know those essay you write at secondry school what i want to be when i grow up' i always wrote that i wanted a family and to be working. i never would've thought about what if things go wrong. i never dreamt that i would ne watching my dh dying of heart failure.

misdee Sat 02-Jul-05 18:27:41

docs meet on monday, and i guessd they will let us know as soon as they can do it.

jessicaandbumpsmummy Sat 02-Jul-05 18:27:46

insufficient words of sympthany again my sweet. BIG HUGS to you all.

Twiglett Sat 02-Jul-05 18:28:04

you have had to adjust to so much and I am sure you have felt that 'out-of-body' experience and grief before .. but remember you got through each stage and coped remarkably .. you will continue to do that.

Overwhelming though it seems at the moment, and that is hardly surprising you will find the strength from somewhere

I am thinking of you and here to chat whenever

SoupDragon Sat 02-Jul-05 18:28:14

Hopefully this will work well for him though.

misdee Sat 02-Jul-05 18:34:16

3months on my own

happymerryberries Sat 02-Jul-05 18:35:54

You are such a wonderful person, neither of you deserve all this crap. words fail me, just so sorry.

KBear Sat 02-Jul-05 18:36:31

You will cope misdee - you'll learn all about it and it will soon become second nature. This happened to someone I know - his wife was terrified of the responsibility of something going wrong with the VAD machine but soon they were making trips out for lunch and short shopping trips and got some semblance of life back. Then he got his heart. That was 18 months ago.

Stay strong. we're rooting for you.

KBear Sat 02-Jul-05 18:37:42

misdee sorry if the machine you are talking about is different to what happened to the person I know, I didn't realise Peter would have to stay in hosp. Didn't mean to be insensitve at all, trying to boost you.

sparklymieow Sat 02-Jul-05 18:40:25

misdee Sat 02-Jul-05 18:41:34

misdee Sat 02-Jul-05 18:41:55

sparklymieow Sat 02-Jul-05 18:42:14
