candida ?
i have had loads of symptoms over the last two years. have had loads of tests which havent revealed anything.
after reading up i think theres a chance i have this.
i once mentioned it to a doctor who totally dismissed it saying that only people with immune problems such as aids etc would get it.
is this what i can expect from all doctors?

Have you got clear symptoms, or so vague they could fit anything (bloating, indigestion, postnasal drip) along with vaginal thrush?

A long time ago I thought I had thi s, and now I'm sorry to say I now think almost everything I read about it at the time that persuaded me I'd got it was irresponsible quackery. There's a candida 'industry' out there - has been for decades. It's got nothing much to do with evidence and a lot to do with selling books and snake-oil cures.

Not saying GPs can't be ignorant about candida. Lots don't know you can get nipple thrush. I'd trust a GP over some of the quack websites out there though. I lost two years to worrying about a problem I didn't have!

In reality I was sincerely anxious about my health and a good GP should pick up on that - shouldn't just dismiss you if you feel that or have definite physical symptoms that need help with. Might be able to help you solve either anxiety or symptoms in other ways. Just if I were you run fast away from candida on the web or in dubvious health-food shop type books.

I found the opposite. It was mumsnet that helped me find out I had a massive candida problem. I'd been given a huge dose of antibiotics after a miscarriage, then about 6 months later, after gradually getting mild thrush more and more each month just before my period, I started to feel really really low. Exhausted all the time, and kind of depressed and almost removed - distant.

I thought I had a thyroid problem. I had two lots of blood tests, nothing...then finally looked up my symptoms and found out about candida. Mumsnet mentioned candida.free.co.uk and the woman running that website, def. not a quack was so helpful. I ended up changing my diet, I had been craving sugar and bread etc...and I got some Threelac, and I swear it turned around in a week. It was like a huge depressing veil had been lifted. I told my GP when I'd sorted it, thinking they might want to know, but absolutely not interested.
They do know it's a real thing with terminally ill patients...though.

I would do the spit test, and if you do have thrush at all, there is every chance you've got a bit of a problem with it. Just look at candida.free.co.uk as well...very helpful questionnaire on there. And you can phone the woman, she is not into selling you stuff you don't need.

I know it's a real thing because I had it.

you could just do a candida free diet and see if it helps? I thought I had condida but after 6 months following a candida diet with no chane I am still not sure.

Asked my GP about it and he basically said "change your diet and see if it helps, but I think you have IBS". That GP was quite new agey and into homeopathic stuff but didn't seem convinced.

that's how I was feeling...and I sorted it when I realised what was wrong. Threelac is really good. it's expensive, but worth taking if itmakes you feel better. I noticed a difference almost immediately.

its been going on for ages, dodgy stomach ,
palpitations
, pounding in head and chest just from walking upstairs and sort of flashing in eyes in time to the pulse,
vision goes funny when standing up , nausea at times ,
weird weak feeling ,
mucous in back of throat ,
popping feeling in sinuses and crackly ears,
twitchy muscles like you get on your eyelid but in lots of other places ,
occasional tingly arm / hand

Definitely see your doctor - at the bare minimum you need your blood pressure checked.

You can get very effective candida treatments over the counter - they're pretty harmless -so you can always take it just to see what happens.

not sure about viral infection. have seen the doctor and had numerous tests but nothing has come up except that i had h.pylori stomach infection thing.
had test for palpitations and the doc said he couldnt rule out a heart condition but the next step was to have something implanted under the skin and to come back for that if things got worse.
something aint right.

when you had h.pylori were you given 2 antibiotics and lansoprazole.
Sometimes the combination of those anti biotics can knock your gut flora about and cause a fungal infection in the gut.

sorry to be nosey.....i had 3 years of problems myself 1n 2000 and i ended up diagnosing myself and eventually got treatment. All my tests kept coming back negative, but like you,i knew there was something wrong. And i was right....got the correct blood test and then the correct diagnosis but it took me three years and i was suffering from symptoms like ME

ye thats what i had for the h.pylori but i already felt like this before. i thought i was going to be cured when they found that!
im not sure what the implant is exactly, i think its something to do with picking up abnormal rhythms. i was hoping my mind would be put at rest at least about my heart but that actually made it worse! seems a bit extreme to have in for 3 years (i think) . i did say that things were just the same when i went back but he still discharged me.

never heard of that before...they normally put a monitor on for 24-48 hours. Thats what i had for my probs....i have got a systolic murmur which gives me a few palpitations too

no i caught a virus (didnt know at the time...cos it didnt make me ill initially)from DS2 . It was called parvo virus. He had it for about 10 days(the other name is slapped cheek syndrome.) I didnt relate the two things for months as i didnt initially have any symptoms. Then i started with a sore tummy,diarrhoea, feeling knackered,depressed, ill but not ill IYKWIM...just totally lifeless. And i am normally a very fit active person. I did all the research and then asked for a specific blood test as i was so fed up with the doctors insuating that nothing was wrong. Guess what,my blood teat came back positive. Stupid doctors.

glad you got sorted in the end. i have lost all faith in doctors one told me to take lansoprazole every day because if i didnt the acid would probably lead to damage in the oesophagus and the next one i saw said i shouldnt be on them longterm as i could get osteoporosis and other stuff!
i have had a heart monitor on before and sods law nothing happened. this past week my hearts been jumping about a few times every day.

I had forgotten about the palpitations, but I had that, and funny dizzy feeling...also sort of flashing in eyes. you could def. try to see if its yeast, it won't hurt anyway, Cut out sugar...and maybe get some threelac? You will know in a couple days if it's yeast, as you will feel really knackered with the yeast 'die off', and then should come out of the fog...

your second doctor is right but not for the right reasons.....the lansoprazole shouldnt be used long term because it prevents the stomach from producing acid and can cause bacterial and fungal overgrowths. You are supposed to come off it every 3 months.

so what exactly is threelac then? can anyone take it? can there be any side effects?
